I’m not sure how many people have noticed this, or even tried to understand it yet, but GPT-5.6 is insanely good at creating AI pre-production work. The output can genuinely look like it was created hands on by an experienced production head. I feel like AI can already handle nearly 50% of pre-production work with close to 99% accuracy. Going forward, this could dramatically reduce the need for entire departments, and eventually, the same shift will come for other departments as well. What’s most surprising is how insanely good AI has become at absorbing and understanding creative taste.

Genuinely surprised by the realism of Seedance 2.5. This almost feels like a real behind-the-scenes Bollywood shoot.
So a new traditional production house contacted me recently to understand more about the AI process, and I ended up creating a short teaser for him. The most surprising part of the whole experience was how much he insisted on having loud background sound in almost every scene. Every intense moment needed a sound, every transition needed something dramatic, every scene had to somehow feel big. And I kept telling him that not every scene has to be loud. Sometimes you have to let the emotion flow on its own. Let the dialogue breathe. Let the expressions do the work. Even silence can create more impact than adding another layer of background music or sound effects. If there is dialogue, you don’t always need sound fighting with it for attention. The audience needs space to actually feel what is happening. I think we have become so used to filling every second with music, effects and noise that silence almost feels uncomfortable now. But sometimes that little bit of emptiness is exactly what makes a scene powerful. AI can give you all the visuals, sounds and possibilities you want, but knowing what not to add is still part of the storytelling.
If you want to master AI filmmaking, stop using AI video agents. Generate each scene manually, one by one. Thank me later.
